cropped-profile.jpg“I am an assistant research scientist in UMTRI’s Biosciences Group. I earned my PhD, MS and BS in mechanical engineering from Hanyang University in South Korea.

My research interests focus on biomechanical and parametric modeling of human anatomy, which accounts for morphological variances of human body shapes and the musculoskeletal system across populations in different ages, gender, and ethnic groups. I have developed various types of statistical models that allow for predicting subject-specific shapes of bodies and bones as a function of a few predictors such as stature, body mass index, age and gender. I am also interested in multidisciplinary applications using these parametric human models, including a portable body-scanning system, markerless motion-capture system, pediatric-obesity assessment tool, computer-aided surgery, and advanced passenger-safety system.”
